This policy covers nametank.com, run by Nametank LLC (“Nametank,” “we,” “us”).
The short version
- No analytics, no ad trackers, and no cookies. The site’s fonts and files load from our own server. The one exception is a spam check on the contact form, run by Cloudflare.
- The only personal information we collect is what you type into the contact form, plus the basic request details every web server records.
- We use it to reply to you. We don’t sell it, and we don’t share it for advertising.
- Contact form submissions are deleted from our database 30 days after they arrive.
What we collect
When you use the contact form
Your name, your email address, your company if you give one, the topic you pick, and your message. We also record the time you sent it and your IP address, which help us stop spam and abuse.
When you visit any page
Like every website, our server records standard details about each request: your IP address, the page you asked for, the date and time, your browser’s user agent, and the page that linked you here. We don’t combine these with anything else, and we don’t use them to build a profile of you.
When you open the contact page
To keep spam out of our inbox, the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It runs in a small frame loaded from Cloudflare and checks details about your browser and connection, like your IP address, to tell a person from an automated program. Cloudflare may set a security cookie inside that frame. It isn’t used for ads or to follow you across other sites. Cloudflare handles that information under its own privacy policy.
What we don’t collect
This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or tracking scripts, ad pixels, or social media widgets. The only outside service that loads on a page is the contact form’s spam check, described above. We don’t buy information about you from anyone else.
How we use it
- To read your message and reply to it.
- To keep a record of the conversation when it turns into business, like a partnership, a job application, or a press request.
- To keep the site and the form working, and to block spam and abuse. Form posts are counted per IP address to slow down abuse. The counter stores a one-way scrambled version of the address, not the address itself, and is cleared within a day.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
Who else sees it
A few service providers handle parts of the site for us. They get only what they need to do that job.
- Hosting and security. Our web servers are run by a hosting provider in the United States. Requests to the site pass through Cloudflare, which protects it from attacks, and Cloudflare also runs the contact form’s spam check.
- Email delivery. Contact form messages reach our inbox through an email delivery service.
- Email. Our email provider stores the messages we receive and send.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of Nametank or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business. In that last case, this policy would still apply to what you sent us.
How long we keep it
- Contact form submissions are deleted from our database automatically 30 days after they arrive.
- The email copy that reaches our inbox is deleted 30 days after it arrives.
- Email delivery records are kept by that provider for a limited time under its own policy.
- Spam counters are cleared within a day.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] with “Privacy” in the subject. We’ll check that the request comes from you, usually by replying to the address you used, and we’ll answer within 24 to 48 hours.
Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, the UK, and the EU, local law may give you more rights, like the right to object to how we use your information or to complain to a data protection authority. We won’t treat you differently for using any of them.
If you’re in the UK or the EU: we use contact form information because we have a legitimate interest in replying to messages people send us, or because you’ve asked us to take a step before entering an agreement, like reviewing a job application or a partnership proposal. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Security
The whole site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Stored form submissions can’t be reached from the web, and only the people who run the site can get to them. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t send passwords, financial account numbers, or government ID numbers through the form.
Children
This site is for adults doing business with us. It isn’t directed to anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date below. If a change affects how we use information you’ve already sent us, we’ll say so on this page before it takes effect.
